In this episode we follow up with our kids book recommendations from episode 10! We also discuss Canadian Authors including the ever popular Robert Munsch. Following with our childrens book theme we discuss Charlie’s trip to Hogwarts (in Florida and London!)

Another great podcast. I felt like I was a fly on the wall in the room you were recording this in. I’m reading “Moose” by Robert Munsch to a class on Monday for I Love to Read month, a few days early. I wish you could all be there. The teacher in me can’t help be educate the children on Munsch. They learn that the different illustrators that he uses depends on the type of story he is telling. Check out: “I Have to Go”, “Millicent and the Wind”, “Blackflies”. When I read to older elementary school students, I give them this as an assignment! They also learn that he used to tell stories to the children in the daycare that he worked in. He was finally convinced to start writing them down. Thank goodness! I was fortunate to meet him and he signed my copy of “Love You Forever”. My favourite book of his is “The Paperbag Princess”. Did you know that the ending of the book is different depending on which version one has and when it was published. My version calls the prince a bum!
I give “Silverwing” and other books by Ken Opel as gifts. I had the pleasure of meeting him once and listen to him talk to a class about how he goes about writing his books.
You may be interested in reading a book by Padma Lakshmi, “Love, Loss, and What We Ate: A Memoir”. She was married to Salman Rushdie from 2004-2007. I heard her interviewed on CBC which motivated me to read her book.
